Local context
Why Tamboerskloof needs this done properly
Cold room work in Tamboerskloof is usually a fit-into-what-exists job: Victorian terraces, semi-detached cottages leaves little room for new plant, so panel layout and condenser position get designed together. Near Signal Hill, remote condensing units positioned away from noise-sensitive neighbours are often the only workable option. We build and service Tamboerskloof cold rooms on the same schedule as Gardens, with temperature logging and HACCP-ready records on every visit.
Tamboerskloof is the Bowl's wind suburb. Sitting in the saddle between Lion's Head and the mountain, properties here take the south-easter square on, which corrodes coastal-exposed coils and makes outdoor unit mounting a structural question rather than a bracket choice. The housing stock is equally particular: narrow Victorian terraces with pressed ceilings and no roof void, where cooling has to be designed around what you're not allowed to drill.
A cold room is a building, a refrigeration system and a food-safety document all at once. We design and install walk-ins for restaurants, delis, bakeries, florists and pharmacies across the City Bowl, and we take over neglected rooms that were never commissioned properly.
Typical Tamboerskloof scenarios
High-ceiling terrace cooling
Pressed ceilings and 3.4m volumes need higher capacity and careful air throw, not a bedroom-size unit.
Wind-exposed condenser mounting
Kloof Nek gusts demand reinforced mounts and coated coils.
Steep-street apartment installs
Crane-free installations where access is a staircase, not a driveway.
Semi-detached noise control
Anti-vibration mounting so your neighbour's bedroom wall stays quiet.
