Hot-Water Heat Pumps in Zonnebloem

Hot-water heat pump work in Zonnebloem starts with where the cylinder sits and how much room there is around it — Student residences, campus buildings rarely leaves a generous plant space. Around Trafalgar Park, most retrofits keep the existing cylinder and add a split or monobloc unit where it can genuinely breathe. Because Zonnebloem and Woodstock are covered on one route, a retrofit here is usually a single-day installation with the Legionella cycle set up before we leave.

Zonnebloem is institutional and commercial in character — campus buildings, residences, light commercial units and new mixed-use development on District Six land. That means the equipment is bigger and the consequences of failure are shared: a residence kitchen cold room, a computer lab needing dependable cooling, a canteen with a wall of undercounter fridges. We work here on planned maintenance contracts and after-hours access, because you can't shut a residence kitchen at lunchtime.

Water heating is usually a third of a City Bowl household's electricity use. A hot-water heat pump does the same job for a fraction of the energy, and in most Gardens or Vredehoek homes it can be retrofitted onto the existing cylinder rather than ripping out your plumbing.
