Ice Machines in Higgovale

Ice machines in Higgovale fail for two reasons — scale and heat — and Architect-designed contemporary homes, glass-heavy elevations produces plenty of both. Near Belvedere Avenue, most machines are boxed into bar joinery with poor airflow, so we correct ventilation and water treatment at the same time as the descale. We keep Higgovale bar and kitchen ice plant on the same six-monthly service route as Tamboerskloof, and stock the common spares on the van.

Higgovale is where the Bowl's most demanding installations live. Contemporary homes here run vast glazed elevations, split-level living volumes and rooftop plant decks — magnificent to look at, brutal to cool. Sightlines are protected fiercely, so condensers and heat pumps have to disappear into screened plant areas or roof wells while still getting the airflow they need. We plan these jobs with the architect and the landscaper, not around them.

Ice machines fail for two reasons in Cape Town: scale and heat. Cramped bar positions starve the condenser of air, and untreated water furs up the evaporator plate. We install with proper water treatment and ventilation, and we descale and rebuild machines that have been neglected.
